Public Transportation

Public Transportation

The San Diego region has plenty of public transportation options that include busses, shuttles, train and light rail to get you around our city.

MTS

The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) offers fast and convenient service from the airport to the Convention Center. MTS operates the San Diego Trolley, with a stop right outside our building. In addition to the trolley, The Flyer, MTS bus route 992, directly services the airport and the downtown area.

  • Please visit the MTS website for information on various routes, fares and schedules.
  • San Diego Quiet Zone: In an effort to reduce downtown noise levels, train and light rail engineers are no longer required to sound horns when approaching stops. Always look before you cross rail tracks and follow posted directions.

Coaster

The North County Transit District's Coaster provides train service that links downtown San Diego to the region's coastal communities. Stretching from downtown San Diego to Oceanside, the Coaster is a great way to enjoy the California coastline.

Big Bay Shuttle

The Big Bay Shuttle conveniently transports passengers to numerous attractions, hotels, shops and restaurants along the bay, from Harbor Island to the South Embarcadero. Operating Memorial Day through Labor Day, passengers can hop on and off at nine different stops including Seaport Village, Maritime Museum, Hilton San Diego Bayfront and San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina.

San Diego Free Ride

There is a new environmentally-friendly electric shuttle service bringing all of downtown San Diego closer. Best of all, this service is completely free to ride. Wave down one of the San Diego Free Ride electric vehicles and hop on and off as you wish.

  • San Diego Free Ride runs seven days a week, 12-9pm and later on weekends. Wave them down or text (619) 821-0520

Amtrak & Greyhound

The  Santa Fe Depot (Amtrak)  and the  Greyhound Bus Station  are located in the heart of downtown San Diego and are within walking distance of the Center.

Amtrak at Santa Fe Depot station offers rail service from San Diego with several round trips to Los Angeles, continuing to Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. Also available at the Santa Fe Depot station is access to the Coaster, local commuter train service, and the San Diego Trolley.

Blocks away from the Santa Fe Depot station is Greyhound. Greyhound operates daily trips into and out of San Diego and connects to all major U.S. cities.
